Why it works

Why PhotoLeak beats a slideshow

Every era of a career

Albums from the early years to the last day turn a career into a story.

Easy for every generation

Guests point their phone camera at the card. No app, no account.

Old colleagues can contribute

Invite former colleagues by email to add the photos only they have.

How it works

From camera roll to The Malcolm Files

  1. Gather the evidence

Upload photos of the retiree into albums: Embarrassing, The Early Years, Fashion Through the Decades and more. Invite friends to add theirs; you approve each one.

  2. Print the cards

Download an A4 sheet of 8 QR cards titled “The Malcolm Files”, with the clearance code and their face in the middle of the QR code.

  3. Leak it

Reveal the clearance code at the right moment. Guests scan, browse and react on their phones while the retiree finds out what you found.

Ready-made albums

Albums to start you off

Every site starts with albums suited to the occasion. Rename them, delete them or add your own. Embarrassing is always the headline, with the Cringe-o-meter.

  • Embarrassing
  • The Early Years
  • Fashion Through the Decades
  • Work Trips
  • Christmas Parties
  • The Final Year

When to reveal it

Most retirement parties have a speech and a presentation. Reveal the code then, and leave the cards on tables so guests can browse during the meal. The retiree’s family often enjoy it most, so make sure they get a card too.

Tips

Make it land

More in our guide: Funny Leaving Do Ideas for a Colleague.

  • Former colleagues hold the oldest photos. Invite them as helpers early.
  • Scan old prints with a phone. Fading and grain only add to the charm.
  • Caption with dates and places, so younger colleagues can follow the story.
  • Finish with an album of retirement plans: the golf course, the allotment, the campervan.
Questions

Retirement FAQs

Is it too cheeky for a retirement?

You set the tone. Most mix gentle embarrassment with warm memories, and you approve every photo.

What if guests aren’t confident with phones?

Pointing the phone camera at the card opens the site. The address is printed too, for anyone who prefers typing it.

Can family contribute?

Yes. Invite them by email as helpers.

How long is it available?

Thirty days after you go live, so the retiree can share it afterwards.

See it before you build it

Open the demo on your phone, type the clearance code and play guest for a minute. It’s the same site your guests will get.
